I literally laugh out loud when I look at pictures of my adorable mom from the 1980s when big hair was in. I of course think she rocked the look, but she dies laughing when she sees those pictures. LOL! I can’t even imagine how much hairspray she had to use to gain the extra three inches in height from her hair alone. That’s why I guess I’m a little weary about using hairspray today.
I have searched high and low for a hairspray worthy of a review, and at last, I have found it – Michael O’Rourke’s 3 Way Hairspray. Let me be the first to tell you that this is not your mother’s hairspray! It doesn’t leave you with that crunchy sticky feeling that sprays of years past always did. Rather than damaging your hair, it actually protects hair from color and the sun with its built in sunscreen. It also contains vitamins A&E for free radical protection and wheat amino acids for hair nourishment.
3 Way has come to be known as “the flagship product” in the Michael O’Rourke line because of a unique breakthrough technology in the form of an adjustable nozzle. All you have to do is twist the nozzle to your liking, then lower the hold to use as a working spray, or turn it up to use as a shaping or finishing spray. You really are getting three different kinds of holds in one very large bottle (10.1 fl oz to be exact) and all for $19.
Here is how I use it: On a regular day when I am heading in to the BLC office, I will spray for a light hold, and I know that my hair will be fluid and look and feel natural all day long – no matter what the day may bring. I just shake well, twist for low hold, then hold the can about 8-10 inches from my hair and spray.
But on a night like last Saturday, where my girlfriends and I went out to celebrate the most fabulous review of BLC in a well-known industry magazine, I wanted a certain look that needed a shaping spray. So after I achieved my very natural looking up do, I sprayed on the firm hold setting to make sure that my do stayed in place and looked natural and pretty all night long.
It was a late night by my standards (which Jade reminds me is not late by most people’s LOL!), but after I got home and glanced in the mirror, my hair still looked fabulous! And I can also assure you that it was a lot different than the 80s look of my mom and her friends.
So go ahead and get spraying. Remember….It’s all about the fun….
XOXXO,
MADISON K.
